Senior Lecturer in Journalism and Communication at Bournemouth University
Associate Director of the Centre for the Study of Journalism, Culture and Community and former Convenor the Journalism Research Group

Before joining Bournemouth University in 2010, worked at Teesside University (2008-2010), and as a visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England, Bristol (2005-2007).
I have a PhD in Journalism Studies from Bournemouth University, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council. My thesis analysed civic engagement and citizen voices on the BBC News website during the 2005 UK General Election.
Prior to my PhD I worked in various roles in the IT industry, including as a Cisco Business Planning Analyst, Product Manager, Technical Field Sales Consultant, and Web Developer and Project Manager.
Note that the blog is also a testbed for my technological experimentation – so the design may change and bits may appear or disappear without prior notice.
